About Holy Family N.S.

Holy Family N.S. is a Catholic Primary School in the Diocese of Achonry. The school is located in Tubbercurry town. Holy Family NS was founded by the Marist Sisters in 1911 and continues to grow and flourish in Tubbercurry ever since. A new extension was built and opened in 2013 to accommodate extra pupils. We also are lucky enough to have an indoor hall for PE and a large playground for break time and PE outdoors. At present we have 10 teachers employed in Holy Family including a learning support teacher, a resource teacher and a support teacher for English as an addition language.

Children coming to our school wear a school uniform, which consists of grey trousers/skirt, white shirt and maroon jumper. We also have a school tracksuit, which can be purchased from Gillespies Menswear & Sports Shop in Tubbercurry.

Holy Family NS operates a healthy eating policy. Parents are asked to support this initiative when packing their child’s lunch. Children also receive fruit in school every day – paid for by the Department of Social Inclusion.

We have an active Parents Association in Holy Family N.S. Their activities include Annual Christmas Choral Concert, organising Santa and Easter Bunny visit, helping out at Grandparents Day and Leavers Assemblies, organising parties to celebrate First Communion and Confirmation and various other fund raising initiatives. The Parents Association have helped us in our purchase of IT equipment and we are lucky to have interactive white boards in all of our classrooms.
