School History

In 1995, St Joseph’s boys’ school and St Mary’s girls’ school amalgamated. As a Catholic school, with Jesus as our model, the name Holy Family (Jesus, Mary and Joseph) was chosen.

As a Marist primary school, we chose an email address in memory of Jeanne Marie CHAVOIN, foundress of the Marist Sisters (1768 – 1858). The order was formed in Belley in the Lyons region of France.

Interestingly, a French connection still remains, as Holy Family school is twinned with College Blaise Pascal in Viarmes, France. This year we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the twinning of Tubbercurry and Viarmes.
