RoboThink’s Workshop for Maths Week!
5th Class were treated to a lovely surprise on Monday morning, a RoboThink’s Robotics Workshop, with Caroline, Miriam and Eimear from RoboThink North West.
The class were split into pairs and given an equipment kit to explore. The children were given a chance to look through all the components of the box and identify and measure certain objects. They were encouraged to be as creative as possible and create maths equations and a variety of different shapes, using the pieces selected.
Once the children were familiar with the contents of their kits they were then given the task of making a motorised compass. They sourced the items from their kits and then followed the step by step instructions to build their compass.
Everyone had great fun building their own compass and they even challenged themselves to add in more markers or to change the design of their compass to give the circle a bigger or smaller diameter.
Lots of happy and smiling faces working collaboratively and having great fun, all whilst they were developing their problem solving, critical thinking and spatial awareness skills!
