Science Week 2020 🎈
This morning the children participated in a zoom webinar all about the Arctic region, as part of Science Week 2020. The children participated in virtual quizzes, question and answer sessions and they also contributed suggestions and solutions to overcome some of the difficulties you may encounter as you adventure across Antarctica.
In the afternoon we investigated the power of force and the impact it can have on a balloon. We conducted a variety of experiments that eventually enabled us to stand on top of multiple balloons, without bursting them!
There were great examples of problem solving and team work as the children worked in groups to create a strategy that allowed you stand on the balloons without bursting them and then we progressed onto identifying the least amount of balloons needed to hold someone up.
There were a lot of factors to take into consideration, such as; the positioning of the balloons, how much the balloons should be inflated, will every ballon be the same size, where do you stand on the board, how you should get up and off the balloons, etc.
We had a great evening of fun and learning and even Ms. Tuohy managed to get up on top of the balloons without them bursting! 🎈🎈
