5th and 6th class attended a science show in Sligo IT on 28th February as part of Engineers Week.

Tiernan Cooke from Holy Family represented Ireland as Ireland’s fastest boy at the Millrose Games in the US last week. Tiernan is pictured with his mother Fiona and Eamon Coughlan at the games. Congratulations also to our past pupil, Ellen Kilcoyne, who also ran in the 4x 200m relay. The future of Irish Athletics is in safe hands.
On Tuesday 16th, children from 3rd to 6th class travelled to the Indoor Arena in Athlone to take part in the National Diversity Games. 19 Children took part in the games and were selected following our term of Athletics PE lessons. The children had an early start on a cold morning but all headed off with great enthusiasm. The children showed that same enthusiasm
Children, parents and extended families enjoyed wonderful Christmas shows at Holy Family this year.
Literacy Lift Off is taking place in 1st class this term. Children are working at 5 different stations. The focus is on sounds, writing, reading. This year we have added a new station – using our tablets – where children listen to stories on the tablet. Thanks to 6th class for helping out.
Children from 3rd to 6th class took part in an internet safety talk today. A large number of the children are active on the internet when at home so the talk was to help them stay safe online. Thanks to Lurtell for facilitating the talk.
Athletics have started with Dermot McDermot on Mondays. Children are working on speed, agility and movement. Children should wear school track suits on Mondays.
